Voices Forgotten is the debut album of American singer songwriter Leigh Thomas. Released in 2008, the album received many positive reviews, including a 5/5 star review that described the album as a “stunning debut” by the prestigious UK magazine, Maverick Country.

Lyrics to the 11 tracks on the album where written by Thomas, with music and arrangements by her husband, composer/producer Russ Garfield Thomas. The songs are personal to Thomas’ life experiences, which include child abuse, divorce, murder and suicide. The album charts her life “as a metaphorical journey filled with more than her fair share of guilt and pain” and “the perspective of the record is that of a seasoned survivor with all the strength and power that this generates” (Whisperin And Hollerin).

A hard-to-pigeonhole album, one reviewer describes the album as “an interesting collection, ranging as it does from the retro feel torch country of Man From Idaho and the Celtic tinged ballad I’m A Woman to Blytheville’s twangy folk rock chug and Down With You, a smouldering southern funky blues that calls to mind a steamy Bobbie Gentry” (Netrhythms).

Voices Forgotten has also been described as “a strong collection of songs with a bit of bite, a bit of an edge” and the album has a “dirty, bluesy undertone that give a honey to growl vocal range some real meat” (Fatea Magazine).

Four tracks on the album – Men, I Don’t Understand, Least Of All You and Man From Idaho – placed in the semi finals of the 2008 UK Songwriting Contest. Two other tracks on the album – Differently and Blytheville – placed in the semi finals of the 2007 UK Songwriting Contest. Man From Idaho also received an honorable mention in the Billboard World Song Contest.
