ALBUM REVIEWS

Maverick Magazine Billboard: Voices Forgotten, The New Album by Leigh Thomas.
Voices Forgotten – Leigh Thomas.

“…a smouldering southern funky blues that calls to mind a steamy Bobbie Gentry” –NETRHYTHMS

Stunning debut album from a Welsh honey who was born and bred in the USA” 5/5 STARS –MAVERICK MAGAZINE

“Dripping with sensuality…Paced like a warmer Marianne Faithful, with drawl and elements of lust, the melodies are heartfelt as well as being anthemic; not soaring but pained. Her voice has a hook and a harmony that demands attention and is dangerously addictive.” –BLUES MATTERS! MAGAZINE

“…a strong collection of songs with a bit of bite, a bit of an edge… a dirty, bluesy undertone that give a honey to growl vocal range some real meat” –FATEA MAGAZINE

“The perspective of the record is that of a seasoned survivor with all the strength and power that this generates… the blues and views of a mature woman” –WHISPERIN AND HOLLERIN

“With your song Blytheville, you did something that I’ve been trying to do for years. My husband does not understand why I am so emotionally attached to Omaha, NE. Blytheville said exactly what I’ve been trying to tell him for years. I think it helped that the song is about the town he grew up in. He saw the military kids come and go but because was not one of them, he never knew what it was like being the one starting to feel comfortable in your new “home” and then being moved away from it. Omaha was the one place that I felt at home. We moved after 3 years (1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade). I kept in touch with a few of my friends over the years. 3 days before I started my freshman year, we moved back. After making that last adjustment, I decided that my kids would not be moved around like I was. Don’t get me wrong, I was very fortunate to have lived and visited all the places the Air Force took us, but it still hurt. As a first grade teacher, I want to use my experiences to help military children cope with and understand the many complex situations that military families face in the form of children’s books, but I can never quite do what you did in Blytheville. Thank you for helping me get my emotions out. […] You have a special gift. Your words helped me in many ways.” —Lisa E., Omaha, Nebraska, USA

In 1942 we moved to Michigan where I grew up. […] I remember as a child on visits back to Arkansas, some family members living in the old Base Housing at the AFB as they were starting over after the war (WW2). […] Just wanted to say I enjoyed the site.” — Bill Harrington, Battle Creek Michigan, USA
